I think it's often a generation gap (like vaporwave fans in their late 20s and 30s know things like BoC and older IDM well, whereas the teenagers are completely new to such artists). Like, people either love them and know them well or have no idea who they are. It's interesting how much many of those artists in that mix aren't mentioned or well-known among many vaporwave fans.
